Solarcentury and The Climate Clinic at The Labour Party Conference, Manchester
Solarcentury is delighted to be involved in this year's Climate Clinic, the conference within the political party conferences in Brighton, Manchester and Bournemouth. Party leaders, ministers, scientists, opinion formers, environmentalists, low-carbon associations, business leaders and the public have come together to debate the issues, spotlight the solutions and press for urgent action and vigorous political leadership in the arena of climate change. Together with members including Friends of the Earth, the Energy Saving Trust and Greenpeace, Solarcentury will be lobbying for political commitment to Climate Change at each event.
Jeremy Leggett, CEO, Solarcentury, will be speaking as part of the Climate Clinic at the Labour Party Conference highlighting the very global impact of climate change.
Solarcentury will also be announcing the launch of SolarAid, the new solar energy charity. SolarAid brings together the fight against climate change and global poverty, it aims to help poor communities in developing countries use solar power to transform their lives.
Other speakers include Sabihuddin Ahmed, High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Paul King, WWF, and Andrew Simms, nef. The attendance of Gordon Brown MP and Margaret Beckett MP is still to be confirmed.
The launch of SolarAid takes place at Climate Clinic, 113-115 Portland Street, Manchester, on Tuesday 26 September from 6 - 7.30pm.
Solarcentury are also pleased to announce their support for the SERA fringe meeting at the Labour Party conference, entitled 'Where next for Renewable Energy?.' Speakers include Malcolm Wicks, Minister for Energy, and Ian Pearson MP, Minister for the Environment, discussing the options for the UK's energy following the government Energy Review. The meeting will discuss how we optimise the recommendation in the report, and move beyond them to continue to grow this vital industry.
