Queens Cross Phase 2

Glasgow, Scotland, UK

Aerial Closeup of the sunstation installed on the roof of Queens Cross Phase 2.

The solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays installed onto the roofs of Phase 2 of the Panmure Street development are made up of a total of 70 individual SHARP polycrystalline 125 W modules.

The modules cover a total area of 66m2 and are capable of producing a total peak DC power of 8.75 kilowatts under Standard Test Conditions (STC). The arrays will provide approximately 7000 kilowatt hours of energy each year.

Solarcentury identified Sharp polycrystalline photovoltaic (PV) technology as the most suitable for this application. This modular technology, available in many different module sizes, can be easily fitted around other services and sheet metal roof surfaces using specially designed metal frames - it is an effective low-cost and rapidly installed solution.

The PV installation on the 2 roofs of the development received funding from the Energy Savings Trust (EST) "Major PV Demonstration Programme".
