Product Manager (Service Development), Innovation Team

We are looking to recruit a Product Manager to join our Innovation team. This role is an opportunity to take a leading role in our Innovation team’s increasing focus on “soft product” development projects – for instance offer development, financing, partnering and business process design – alongside our core engineered products development. This role will lead on a variety of projects of this type, involving anything from idea origination, through proposition development, to delivery and launch.
In particular, the role is initially to product- and project- manage the delivery of a specific solar offer, which we are developing with a partner organisation to support the wider adoption of solar in general and our own products in particular.
Key Skills and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of our Innovation team, you will be responsible for, amongst other things:
· Working closely with the team and other company staff, development partners and contractors, to design and develop products, services and offers involving “soft products” and business processes that support sales of solar products
· Delivery of development projects focused on the above to agreed product definitions and scopes, as well as timelines, resource and financial budgets.
· Identifying, mapping out and implementing across Solarcentury new business processes required to support new offerings
· Developing and managing day-to-day relationships with and delivery by joint development partners
· Providing accurate and timely reports and ad hoc information on new product development projects to the Innovation team, Executive Team, Board, staff and others as necessary
Requirements
· Demonstrable professional experience in a challenging role or roles involving product & service development, business development, or change management (both in-house and consultancy roles)
· Experience of designing building new business processes across an organisation, and/or creating, developing and managing propositions or products
· Ability to manage joint development ventures with third parties
· Ability to build new business models and introduce products into new markets
· A creative approach to problem-solving and service design
· Excellent analytical, financial and project management skills
· In addition, the following will be an advantage:
• Experience in construction and/or energy industries
• Foreign languages (French, Spanish, Italian).
