Solarcentury chief welcomes “gamechanging” new calculations of solar’s high capital efficiency versus oil
In a historic report, BNP Paribas introduced investors to the new concept of Energy Return on Capital Invested. “We think the economics of renewables are impossible for oil to compete with when looked at over the cycle”, report author Mark Lewis, Global Head of Sustainability Research concludes. “We calculate that to get the same amount […]
To help demonstrate how easy it is to generate and store solar energy, Solarcentury installed solar panels and battery storage on the roof of the Royal Institution for this year’s Christmas Lectures.
This year, Solarcentury’s donated £124,000 to SolarAid – in line with Solarcentury’s commitment to donate 5% of its annual profits every year to the charity we founded.
We’ve been hard at work crunching numbers so we can demonstrate that with every passing second, we’re achieving our mission: to make a meaningful difference in the fight against climate change. The new carbon clock calculates the amount of clean solar electricity being generated by every solar installation Solarcentury has sold since we were formed.
DECC’s survey shows that renewable energy continues to receive high levels of support among the British public, with 80% of those surveyed supportive of solar energy.
Around London there are almost 13,000 rooftop solar installations, producing enough electricity to watch 422 million episodes of Eastenders! Check out our interactive map showing where they are and who’s benefiting from the free electricity.
