IKEA Germany launches home solar with Solarcentury, following successful soft launch
Solarcentury’s partnership with IKEA Germany will kick off today with the sale of SOLSTRÅLE solar systems from IKEA stores across the country.
The solar systems will be available to buy online and in German IKEA stores for as little as 4,730 Euros.
Dennis de Jong, Managing Director of Residential for Solarcentury said “the national launch of home solar in Germany is an important milestone for IKEA and Solarcentury”.
“We want to make solar attractive and accessible in our bid to make a meaningful difference in the fight against climate change. Our partnership with IKEA Germany goes a long way to achieving that aim,” he said.
Solarcentury will manage the customer relationship from the point of purchase through to installation.
Buying solar from IKEA Germany
To purchase solar systems, customers register on IKEA Germany’s solar website IKEA.de/solar and will receive a call back from a Solarcentury representative. A quick personalised online calculator will help interested parties to choose the right solar system, based on roof size, cost preference and energy saving needs.
Customers also have the option to include a battery in their system – in order to store energy produced by the sun during the day for use after dark.
Successful soft launch
Today’s announcement follows a successful three-month soft launch of solar sales by IKEA Germany.
Sales of SOLSTRÅLE began on October 1st across five German stores in Kaarst, Eching, Walldorf, Ulm and Freiburg.
Christiane Scharnagl, Sustainability Manager at IKEA Germany said: “We are very satisfied with the demand to date and have already been able to convince a number of IKEA visitors in the five stores of our range of solar offers.
“We want to encourage people to do something positive for the environment and their wallets. This will enable them to produce renewable energy themselves, save money and live more sustainably at home”.
